Of course there is always the Clever Karate Response (CKR), "It gives me confidence knowing that I am prepared."
but does it really? honestly? because criminals don't have guns right? oh wait they do. Oh wait but you can kick really high...you could probably knock that sucker right out of his hand. Oh wait...he's not within the 2 feet range.
I see a T-Chart coming on:
So there you have it. My Microsoft Paint skills (Start>Accessories>Paint) once again prove a valid point.
So for all you Karate gurus out there waiting for your big opportunity to save the day with self defense...just make sure you first take into account the following:
*Does the criminal have a weapon? (If yes...you lose)
*Is he within 2 feet? (If no...you lose...if yes...you most likely still lose)
Don't let probability stop you from doing what you love though...

We've started a new tradition, "NINJA thursdays." This Thursday was "3 Ninjas" AND "TMNT 2: Secret of the Ooze" Maybe you should come next time so you can see how ninja skills come in handy. And there is a female attraction to ninjas....remember? "ROCKY LOVES EMILY!"
seriously...3 ninjas is the best movie ever!!
but I really enjoyed your t-chart.
Wow, there's a whole karate studio full of college guys across from my work who will be very disappointed by this revelation. Thanks for doing your part to educate the less intelligent.
